THE BARBERS OF BAXTER FINLEY
This master barber got his sea legs cutting hair for the U.S. Coast Guard before attending Long Beach’s Barber College and Vidal Sassoon Academy. He’s worked in Los Angeles, the South Bay, Seal Beach and even Massachusetts which should make for some interesting conversation when you’re in his chair. His favorite song to listen to when he’s working his magic is Stranglehold by Outkast and you’ll often find him hanging out in Santa Monica. He draws inspiration from all types of music, photography and art as well as peers like @MorrisMotely, @SchoremBarbier and @andrewdoeshair. Best known for his excellent scissor cuts and clipper fades, Anthony’s favorite cut to give is the medium contour cut.
An alumni of the Real Barber college in Anaheim, this long-time pro has an impressive body of experience which includes Old Glory Barber & Tattoo in Venice and the Barbershop Club in Los Angeles. A master of blow-dry styles and classic cuts, Chris’s favorite cut is the high & tight with a side part. He cites fellow professional barber @andrewdoeshair and his wife @kyliejames_tattoo as major sources of inspiration. When not creating awesome cuts & styles at the barbershop, you can find him at the LAX Firing Range or in his garage. His barbershop playlist includes Kaleida’s “Think” and 1970 by The Stooges. His best advice for anyone new to the area is LA has a traffic problem and it WILL make you late.
Erik E. Taylor
This ABC Barber College alum honed his epic skills as an original member of the Barber Shop Club of Los Angeles, The Shave of Beverly Hills and the Jon Allen Men’s Salon. He’s greatly inspired by Asian and Native American tribal art and music. His greatest professional inspiration is barbers of the past which would explain why his all-time favorite cut is the classic 1920’s pilot cut, but don’t worry, he prides himself on being able to replicate any picture of a haircut on most clients. The things he loves most are cutting hair while listening to Take Five by Dave Brubeck, and being with family and when he’s not doing either of those, you might find him riding his BMX at the beach. He counts celebrities Lawrence Fishburne, Reno Wilson, Shaquille O’Neil and Pharrell Williams among his client list.
Baxter Finley’s resident poindexter-turned-educator prides himself on articulately communicating with his clients in order to get the right cut by explaining their qualities and nuances. He’s been with Baxter Finley for 4 years and counts his fellow barbers as his professional inspirations. His favorite artists are Father John Mists, Bob Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Ta-Ku and David Bowie and his favorite song to create custom cuts to is “So Fresh, So Clean” by Outkast. He studied video game illustration in college where he developed a love for art and aesthetics which has motivated him to hone and improve his excellent barbering skills. You might find him hanging out at Good Times at Davey Waynes @Hollywood.
Mostly self-taught, this former owner of 2 Atlanta barbershops honed and perfected his craft in an Old School shop in Athens, GA. Before relocating to LA, he was a Vice President and Director of Training for a national chain of men’s salons and counts traditional barbers as his greatest inspiration. His music playlist finds classic artists like Frank Sinatra and Johnny Cash paired with modern musical luminaries such as Kendrick Lamar.
When not hiking Runyon Canyon, you’ll find him practicing his favorite Modern Gentleman cut at Baxter Finley where he’s especially well known for excellent tapers and fades. His favorite song to play as he cuts is Johnny Cash’s “Walk The Line,” which couldn’t be apropos. He once set a Guinness World Record on The Today Show for shaving the most heads in one hour on behalf of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research. If he looks familliar, you might have seen him on House of Cards, CSI and NCIS: New Orleans.

Monique’s been cutting hair since she began teaching herself how at age 12. Since then she’s attended the prestigious Schorem Old School Barbering Academy in Holland and has worked under barbering savant, Darryn Pitman. Among her artistic inspirations are painters, Zio Ziegler, Albert Reyes and local LA artist, Cleon Peterson. She enjoys many different genres of music from jazz to hip hop and classical but her favorite song to work to is the Entire Digable Planets album.
When she’s not seeking out the best food and craft cocktails at upscale LA establishments such as The Raymond 1886 and The Normandie Club or attending gallery shows, you’ll find her practicing her signature skin-tight fades and putting clients to sleep while administering incredibly relaxing shaves. A true renaissance woman of myriad tastes, she names drawing as her first love but has also been a rapper and an amateur chef.
This born & raised California native and graduate of Aveda L.A. began her career learning barbering from her boyfriend and is also why she chose to specialize in men’s haircutting. She counts her @staygold, @juliuscaesar and @pistolsandpalmtrees among her barbering inspirations. Chang enjoys the art of Andy Warhol and Alexander Wang and counts The Beatles and Kanye West among her musical loves. When she’s not perfecting her signature slide cutting and texturized design techniques at Baxter Finely, you’ll find this local gal checking out the view at Griffith Park Observatory, hanging out at the grove or bumming around the Hollywood hills.
One of her favorite cuts to give is the disconnected low fade with a messy pushed-forward top for a clean, yet casual look. She originally got into the hair and beauty business to network and help build her own brand. She hopes to one day become a full stylist, helping clients to create perfect images from head-to-toe. Her celebrity clients X-men films screen writer Simon Kinberg and John Locke, creator of Tinder.
Ricky, a Hawthorne, CA native has spent the last decade honing his barbering skills. He attended the Torrance Pro-Barber College before perfecting his technique at the Nirvana Barbershop in Inglewood. He’s inspired by anyone who works hard to establish themselves in his industry harbors an affinity for tattoo art.
When he’s not barbering, this master of the mid-fade haircut can be found in the recording studio pursuing his other passion, Hip Hop. His greatest advantage in the barbershop is his versatility in being able to deliver whatever the customer asks for. He likes his liquor straight with no chasers and his favorite tune to cut hair to is “Grindin” by Clipse. He counts big names like Will Farrell, Tamer Hassan and Mike Tyson among his considerable list of celebrity clientele.
